In a distributed dungeon, where players are collecting experiences, it’s possible to attribute achievements to folks. For example:
- Number of dungeons explored at various percentages (or dungeon size)
- Number of unique experiences collected
- Number of fellow players connected to
And the method of verification could be fairly simple — dungeons sign achievements! When a player visits a dungeon, part of the handshake could be a list of achievements that the dungeon hasn’t seen since your last visit. This could take some time, so clients could open a separate connection to upload achievements, for example. Then the recipient dungeon would use each granting dungeon’s public key (which they should absolutely cache for future use, with a reasonable expiration time) to verify.
The dungeon you are in would be responsible for displaying your achievements to other players that examine you.
Seems workable? What do folks think?
