In case my parents are reading this blog post, I don't have cancer. I'm just paranoid.

Boy, that was such a clickbait title!!

Anyway, as a kind of anxious guy who worries a lot about his health, this article about what you really need to do to prevent cancer seems quite a tall order! What is it about our culture that makes it so difficult for us to be healthy?

Looking at the list at the bottom of the article, I've got a checklist of things I need to look at. I'll give myself a score from 1 to 10 about how well I'm doing in each of these areas:

Keep a healthy weight.
5 (progress stalled)

Exercise.
6 (started to find some things I like doing)

Eat vegetables.
5 (more salads at lunch!)

Limit fast food.
7 (this is actually becoming more rare -- more to do)

Limit red and processed meats.
5 (eek!)

Limit sugar-sweetened drinks.
5 (well, it's just the honey in my tea and sugar in my coffee)

Limit alcohol consumption.
10 (don't drink; never have; never will)

Don’t rely on supplements.
1 (i rely heavily on supplements)

Breastfeed your baby, if you can.
Not applicable

Total score: 44 out of 80 = 55% success

Anyway, I hope others will do a simple exercise like this and reflect on their lifestyle changes. I know it was a bit of a wakeup call for me!
